Locarides ("we", "us", or "our") operates a location-based social platform for discovering and sharing "hidden gems". We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR).
1. Information We Collect
We collect and process personal information that you provide to us directly or through your use of the app:
- Personal Details: Full name, username, email address, password, profile biography, and profile photo.
- User Content: "Gems" you share, posts, comments, reviews, ratings, and photos uploaded to the service (stored via Cloudflare R2).
- Precise Location: Real-time GPS coordinates when you allow location permissions. This is required to find gems near you and verify visits (within 200m).
- Messaging: Content of direct messages sent between users.
- Device Information: Device model, operating system, unique device identifiers, and IP addresses.
- Metadata: App usage patterns, crash logs, and interaction data via Firebase Analytics.
2. Purpose of Collection and Processing
Your data is processed based on your consent and for the following legitimate purposes:
- To provide core services (account management, map features, and messaging).
- To verify location-based "visits" to gems.
- To send push notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging.
- To improve app stability and security.
- To moderate content and prevent misuse of the platform.
3. Data Sharing and Transfer
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with trusted service providers to operate the app:
- Google Firebase: For authentication, cloud database (Firestore), analytics, and push notifications.
- Google Maps/Places API: For mapping and place discovery.
- Cloudflare R2: For secure storage of your uploaded photos and media.
- Public View: Your username, profile photo, and public posts/gems are visible to other Locarides users.
4. Your Rights as a Data Subject
Under the Philippine Data Privacy Act, you have the following rights:
- Right to be Informed: You have the right to know how your data is being processed.
- Right to Access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification: You can update inaccurate information through the app settings.
- Right to Erasure (Blocking): You may request the deletion of your account. Deletion removes photos and personal identifiers; text content (like reviews) is anonymized.
- Right to Object: You can opt-out of data collection by closing your account or revoking app permissions.
- Right to Data Portability: You may request a structured format of your data.
- Right to Damages: You may be indemnified for any damages due to inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, false, unlawfully obtained or unauthorized use of personal data.
- Right to File a Complaint: You may file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission (NPC).
5. Children's Privacy (Minor Consent)
Age Restriction: Locarides is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. Users aged 13 to 17 in the Philippines must obtain parental or guardian consent before using the app. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
6. Data Retention and Security
We implement technical and organizational security measures to protect your data. We retain your personal information only for as long as your account is active. Once an account is deleted via the in-app "Delete My Account" feature, personal identifiers are purged while non-identifiable content is retained for platform integrity.
